Juno- an Adoption Movie

I will have to see this for myself, either it's light hearted and will have a good ending or it's all about making fun of birthmothers and adopted parents....

Hey P...

Just have to ask...so what would YOU consider a good ending? Are you looking at the outcome of the story or just how the director handles the situation in general. Just some food for thought. I honestly have no idea what a good ending would be for this story. I suppose I would have to watch the movie and determine that based on the situations and characters (as I'm sure you would also suggest for yourself). Looks intriguing though...I'm quite curious to see how it ends:)! Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

It looks interesting to me just because it features Jason Bateman and Michael Cera from Arrested Development.

Now THAT was a great show!

Being an actress and involved in theater/movies I realize there is little value in a plain, sweet movie with a good moral value and happy ending. There must be a conflict and a resolution (good or bad)...in a comedy their must be a funny situation/conflict and a resolution. So, to me, I know this movie will be about a tough situation....there will be much heart ache and conflict and it will probably end up where the adopted parents (portrayed as idiots) do not get to adopt the baby. The birth mother, portrayed as smart, savvy and wise beyond her years, will most likely keep her baby and everything will work out wonderfully. I wish real life was like that. I might be totally wrong, this may be a sad movie with the baby actually being adopted or a happy movie where they find the baby better adopted parents - I don't know -- It does have a lot to do with who wrote it and how much background the director has in adoption.

All good points, P...

Also, perhaps another possible good ending would be if this young girl finds that she has a good support system in her parents, boyfriend, boyfriend's parents, friends, etc. and decides to parent the child herself.

Perhaps it will portray the potential a-parents as SOME really ARE...eager to get their arms around a baby still growing inside another woman with little to no regard for HER feelings (please note: emphasis on "SOME" because I truly know and understand that defnintely not ALL potential a-parents are like this) Hmmm....wouldn't that be an interesting take. After all, doesn't Hollywood tend to glamorize adoption? With all these celebrities adopting it just comes across as so easy and saintly. Wouldn't it be interesting if a movie actually showed the sadness of adoption as it relates to the birthmother and the struggle she actually faces in making this decision that will impact her and her baby for the rest of their lives (regardless of her age)? Hmmmmm....as I said, I am QUITE curious to see how this movie ends:)!

From the looks of it, the ending that everyone is supportive is unlikely (as it is in real life (unfortunately) but I'm curious if everyone will be portrayed as having flaws or just one part of the circle (I say circle because there are many people involved:biodad, social worker, parents, etc)

I'm looking forward to seeing this. I really want to see 'August Rush' too, although I think we may need the kleenex for that one
